The Zodiac, 1925, oil on canvas by Ernest Procter, British, 1886-1935.
Procter painted decorations, allegorical figures and landscapes. He studied at the Newlyn School and exhibited in London. The artist also decorated the Kokine Palace in Rangoon, Burma, and churches in Cornwall.
He experimented with glazed and illuminated decorations he called ‘diaphenicons.’
So, I’m showing a cut of my first semester film- which still needs to go through a dose of sound work and color correction, which we aren’t really learning til next semester- on Monday during this big week o’ screenings at my school. It is my first narrative work, so I’m only mildly anxious- but it was a lot of fun to make anyway.
The list of summer projects I want to make is huge. This screening on Monday will be like a giant green light to work on whatever the hell I want to.
My younger brother asked me to do the new album/tshirt artwork for his band (Our Daily Fix). I agreed, clearly.
In other news, I just wrapped up my first year of graduate school. My video from first semester should be on the interweb any day now. But truly, I look forward to summer and having time to apply the things I’ve learned and focus on whatever the fuck I want.
